Maurice L. Johnson, age 78, passed away on January 24, 2012 in his home. He was born on August 24, 1933 in Thurman, Iowa. Maurice is survived by his wife, Sharon (Murphy) Johnson of Clever, MO. and his children, Miss Vicki Johnson of Nixa, MO, Mr. Tracy Johnson of Glenwood, IA, Mr. and Mrs. David and JoAnn Hardy of Clever, MO, and Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence and Pam Kinsella of Webster Grove, MO, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be on Thursday January 26, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with a Mass on Friday January 27, 2012, at 11:00 am, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2818 E. Bennett Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Services have been entrusted in Greenlawn Funeral Home South.

The 50^th INTERNATIONAL EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS will be held in Dublin , Ireland in June. Its theme “The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and with One Another” is hoped to contribute an enriched understanding of the Eucharist as true personal Communion with Jesus Christ and to a renewed understanding of the Church as an essentially Eucharistic community. Father Fergus Monaghan, pastor, and Sister Jeanne Goessling, SSND, DRE at Holy Trinity, Springfield will lead the group from our diocese including two days at the Congress and 8 days of travel through the southern and west coast of Ireland. Barbara Marie Wilson

Barbara Marie Wilson, 84, of Springfield, Missouri passed away at 6:14 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at her home. She was born March 16, 1927 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Joseph and Helen Wishneski. Barbara married Robert W. Wilson on December 27, 1952.

Barbara retired from UCI Medical Center in Orange, California.

Barbara was a devoted member of the Catholic faith, and served in the Altar and Rosary Society while in California. She was also a Certified Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the CCW Society. Barbara also loved baking, and cooked for many church functions. Barbara also enjoyed flowers and gardening, and the company of her favorite cat, Gus.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband; three children Roberta Ann, Stacey Ann, and Mark Andrew Wilson; her parents; and two brothers, Lawrence and Joseph Wishneski.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia McDonald and her husband Allen; and a sister, Felicia Valus and her husband Richard.

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Fergus Monaghan, Celebrant, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 7:15 p.m. in the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint Vincent DePaul Society, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2818 East Bennett Street, Springfield, Missouri 65804-1999.

Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend. She will be missed greatly.

(August 13, 1919 – October 31, 2011)

Alice Louise Cunningham, age 92, of Columbia, MO, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011 at Bluff Creek Nursing Home in Columbia, MO. She was born August 13, 1919, in St Louis City, MO, to Robert and Edna (Carter) Sullivan. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Alice and her husband Pete owned and operated the Cunningham Drug Store in Springfield, MO. She was an avid canvas artist and loved to sew, crochet and quilt. She had “outfished” her brother. Alice loved to collect blue glassware and hand-tinted photographs. Alice made her special chili for the drug store and was an all-around good cook. She traveled in her later years and played the piano and organ. She was a very special person helping with several family and friends in their daily needs. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James Elton {Pete} Cunningham,in 1971; two brothers, Charles and James Sullivan; and sister, Mary Jane Reynolds. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert Ray and wife Ilana Sue Cunningham of Columbia, MO; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie Burch; a brother, Robert Sullivan; brother-in-law, Frank Reynolds; sister-in-law, Sue Carol Chenaie; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mass of Chrisitian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., in Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Friday, November 4, 2011, with Fr. J. Fergus Monaghan officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 5 :00 p.m., at Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Thursday, November 3, 2011. Memorial contributions may be made to the the charity of the donor’s choice. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO. BIOGRAPHY

Virgil J. Schroeder, 88, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Carroll, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in Cox South Hospital. He was an army veteran from World War II and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Springfield, MO; Sons Terry and wife Debra of Maple Grove, MN; Doug and wife Mary of Omaha, NE; Randy of Springfield, MO; Mark and wife Sylvia of Buda, TX; Craig and wife Judy of Springfield, MO; David and wife Ellen of New York, NY; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 21 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Father Fergus Monaghan Celebrant under the direction of the Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will be Saturday in Carroll, Iowa in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10a.m. Friday in the church.
